Game Designer & Programmer.
Intro
I am Owen, I trained as a programmer doing Software Development (with games) at Southampton Solent University. After starting my career as a games programmer I started also working on balance for Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest that then lead to me to move to a design role within the project and since then I have been working on perfecting my design abilities.
My CV
Projects
The following projects are a mix between professional, personal and university work.
01
Warhammer: Chaos & Conquest.
A free to play mobile strategy game. I worked on client development and since launch have moved to a more design focused role working on game balance, and designing new content like troops and equipment.
02
Tilemap Editor
I created a simple map editor so that I could practice map design in 2D worlds once completed. I did this in Unity; I made it so that users were able to create simple maps at runtime as well as save and load said maps.
03
Physics Simulation
This is a physics simulation loop that I wrote as part of my Masters’ coursework while attending the University of Hull.
04
Skymercs
A passion project built with a friend during our time at university that was greenlit by the Steam. Built using GameMaker Studio.
05
Direct X Project
My first Direct X project, I worked on this while attending the University of Hull. Built using DirectX Toolkit.
06
Untitled: Boat Game
A small game I made in Unity during an assest store spring sale, I tested out making sate machine AI and working with Unity’s Nav Mesh system.
Other Projects
this is just a smaller collection of smaller or older projects.
07
Sweeping with Sirens
My first taste of design, I lead a team of people to work on a virtical slice of a game that we designed called “Sweeping with Sirens”, This was a VR cleaning game where the player would clean up a crime scene.
08
Dissertation (VR Revision Tool)
For my Dissertation, I worked on making a VR tool that complied with AQA’s examination rules for chemistry experiments in the classroom. In this project the player can go between a molecular and classroom view the idea being that students could better learn the reaction that is taking place. The end product worked well but was more useful as a revision tool.
College Blog
09
My blog I made during my time at college this was an art and design blog, but in my later years I worked a lot more with my college to argue the point of games as art and this blog shows that as well as the work I did while in college.
